This is a great craft to do with the kiddos while they wait for the turkey to finish cooking.  And they make great seating place cards!  First, gather up your supplies:

  1. Colored craft papers
  2. Googly eyes
  3. Pencil
  4. Scissors
  5. Craft glue
  6. Toilet paper roll
  7. Printable Template (found at the end of this post)

Download and print out the template below. Carefully cut out your template pieces.

Using different colored craft papers, trace and cut out two tail feathers, 1 hat and 1 ribbon strip for the hat. Then trace and cut out the turkey body, beak, and wattle.

Glue the smaller tail feather on top of the bigger one, as shown. Then attach the wattle and beak onto the head part of the turkey body.  Grab the ribbon strip and glue it onto the hat.

Glue the hat to the top of the turkey’s head and add google eyes.

Grab your empty toilet paper roll and cut it in half. Cut two 2cm deep slits on each side of the roll, as shown. The slits should be facing opposite to each other.

Using your slits, insert the tail feathers into the cuts of the roll.

Use craft glue to attach the turkey body onto the outer surface of the tube, on the front side of the tail feather pattern.

Let dry and you’re done. Create a whole family of turkeys in various colors!
