Dr. Seuss’s Birthday is coming up on March 2nd, and it’s the perfect time to make this Cat in the Hat Paper Plate Craft with the kids! Make it while watching The Cat in the Hat or after reading the popular book by Dr. Seuss. Either way, the kids will love making their own character from this fun story.
Cat in the Hat Paper Plate Craft
To recreate this paper plate craft you’ll need the printable template found below, as well as the following supplies:
Quick dry tacky glue or school glue
Cat in the Hat Template File
After gathering up your supplies, print and cut out the Cat in the Hat template file.
To create the Cat in the Hat, cut the plate to resemble the shape of his head, as shown below.
Glue the red stripes to the white rectangle to create his hat, adding the white oval “rim” to the underside of the bottom.
After completing the hat, glue it and the facial features to the paper plate.
To make an ear, cut a leaf shape from part of the plate you cut away. Decorate it with the black marker, as shown and glue to the paper plate.
Add black markings for the Cat’s fur.
Allow to dry completely before playing or displaying and your Cat in the Hat craft is complete!
