DIY Spooky Halloween Sign
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to add some Halloween decor to our fireplace mantel. Unfortunately, I have a very narrow space to work with now that our TV is above the fireplace. Luckily, I discovered that a scrap piece of 2×4 wood fits perfectly above my mantel and created this fun Halloween sign!
Want to create your own? It’s super easy and uses supplies you probably already have around the house.
Then take a scrap piece of wood (I used a 2 foot long 2×4) and spray paint it with your preferred colors. I spray painted mine orange and then used a black around the edges to give it a distressed look.
While that’s drying cut out your SPOOKY letters and the spider. I used a thick, black sharpie to distress the edges of the paper. You can also use a Distress Ink Pad if you have one on hand.
After your wood has dried, use Mod Podge to glue your letters and spider in place. Let that dry for a couple of minutes and then add a thin layer of Mod Podge to coat the entire sign. Let that dry and you are done! A cute, simply Halloween decoration to add to your own decor or give to friends!
UPDATE: We’ve made this sign double-sided!
