My oldest son had the greatest idea for our next craft in this series and he used it as an Elf on the Shelf activity! Really, you could do this with any of the crafts in this series, but he thought it would be especially fun with this Elf Boy Christmas Accordion Craft. We printed out the template and cut out each of the pieces. Then he wrote a note for his younger siblings, from the “elf,” with instructions on how to finish the craft. Such a great idea!
Elf Boy Christmas Accordion Craft
Whether you are looking for another Elf-on-the-Shelf project or you just want to make your own accordion Elf, you’ll need to grab the free printable template found at the end of this post and a few other simple supplies.
Cardstock or Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
Pink Crayon
Black Marker
After downloading your template, print out your template using the instructions listed at the top of each page. Alternatively, you could print everything out on white cardstock or construction paper and use colored pencils or crayons to color in your elf.
After printing everything out, carefully cut out your pieces.
Once everything is cut out, you’ll begin assembling and gluing your elf together. Starting with the hat piece, add one of the bells to the tip and add the smaller “trim” piece to the bottom of your hat.
Use the large piece as the “body” of your elf and glue on your elf’s head. Add his hair and then top with your completed hat. Next, add the larger “trim” piece under the head, creating the elf’s collar. Finally, attach the bells to the collar and allow to dry.
After your elf has finished drying, grab your markers and/or crayons and give him a face!
Next, you’ll need to cut four 2 inch wide strips of paper. Fold each strip back and forth, creating an accordion fold as shown.
After folding each strip, glue them to the back of your elf, creating two arms and two legs.
And that’s it! Allow him to dry and your elf is complete. You can mix and match your colors, choosing any combination you want to use. Or you can color in some or all of the pieces. The possibilities are endless, so make him yours!
