I’ve had so much fun with this Summer Sea Craft series, but this last one is definitely my favorite! Grab the printable at the end of this post to recreate this Hermit Crab Printable Sea Craft. Hermit Crab Printable Sea Craft
Isn’t he just the cutest?! I love them all, but it’s obvious to see why he’s my favorite. We had so much fun creating this one!
To recreate this hermit crab, first gather up a few simple supplies:
Paper
Glue
Scissors
And for his watercolor background, grab the following:
Watercolor Paper
Watercolor Paint
Paint Brush
Salt
After gathering up all of your supplies, scroll to the end of the post to download and print the free hermit crab template. After printing out the template, cut it out.
After cutting out all of your hermit crab pieces, use a glue stick or white glue to glue all the pieces together.
To give your hermit crab more life and “shine,” cut out small pieces of white paper and add them to the edges of your sea creature.
And that’s it! Your hermit crab is now complete. Wasn’t that simple? Of course, if you want to add the watercolor background, keep reading for instructions. Alternatively, you can keep him as is or glue him to a colored construction paper background.
Watercolor Background Instructions
First, to make cleanup easier, you’ll want to prepare your surface with newspaper or a vinyl tablecloth. Then grab your watercolor paints in shades of blues, yellows, greens or any additional colors you want to add. Use your paintbrush to coat the paper in water until it’s damp but not soaked. Begin adding paint until you’re happy with your background.
Before it’s dry and while the paint is still wet, sprinkle on a few pinches of salt across the paper. This will give it an “explosive” looking effect.
When you’re done, allow the paper to dry completely. It will take quite a while as your paper will be pretty wet. After it’s dry, glue your hermit crab to his new background!
